. . . affectionately, Mak! A native-born of the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Mak's inspiration is drawn from her own backyard, the Olympic Mountains, and her personal life experiences. She is an avid adventurer with expertise as a white water rafting guide and snowboard instructor. Makenzi's artistic aesthetic reflects the energy and passion with which she lives her life . . . "live, love and adventure big" is the creed she encourages. With these words to guide her, Mak recently opened MakW Designs, a quaint little shop in Kingston, WA, featuring, local artisan jewelry, art, gems and minerals.

I have been a musician and an athlete my entire life, allowing one arena to motivate and inspire the other. I have my doctorate in classical piano performance and hold national and world titles in Taekwondo. I discovered jewelry making in 2009 when I was struggling to recover from a traumatic accident that left me unable to continue my musical or athletic endeavors. I credit my work in this artistic area for not only saving my sanity in those dark years but also being instrumental in helping me regain some of my lost abilities. My neurologist concurs . . . this activity is actually amazing for brain health!
The satisfaction, success and health benefits I have enjoyed , inspired me to develop this retreat in 2014 as a educational resource as well as a rejuvenating outlet for dedicated artists and for those looking for a new creative endeavor. My vision of artistic fellowship through workshops held in beautiful, natural settings, exuding warmth, intimacy and quality has been fully realized in these past five years, attracting artists from all over the US and even Europe! I am currently on the instructional staff at BARN . . . the Bainbridge Artists Resource Network.
